Lowering Triglycerides Diet
Triglycerides Diet Can Lower Triglyceride Levels
The triglycerides diet, which sounds rather off-putting and scary, is actually a very easy thing to follow. It centers on eliminating two main "toxins" from the body – alcohol and sugar. Any excess alcohol (which is fermented sugar) or refined sugar turns into fat which in turn brings up triglyceride levels.
Although there is a claim that the resveratrol in red wine lowers the threat of artherosclerosis, which is also caused by high triglyceride levels, some people think that red wine can be part of a triglycerides diet. Unfortunately, red wine still contains alcohol and a complete removal of alcohol is essential for this. With the go-ahead of the doctor once the triglyceride levels are under control, it is possible that a glass or two of dry red wine may be allowable.
Simply put, a triglycerides diet advocates an increased amount of water (at least 2 liters daily), limitless fresh and raw fruits and vegetables, controlled portion sizes of skinless poultry and lean fish, a maximum of 2 egg yolks a week but unlimited egg whites, controlled portions of whole grains but no refined carbohydrates like white pasta or rice, controlled use of unsaturated fat like olive or sunflower oil but no saturated fats like lard, and absolutely no sugar, alcohol, or red meat. In addition, food must be consumed in proper portions. Even an extra bit everyday could be enough to bring up triglyceride levels, so this is an important point to watch carefully.
What’s nice about the triglycerides diet is that you’re actually not supposed to starve! Your meals should be divided into 6 small meals but whose portions are still based on the recommended daily allowances set by the FDA.
In the case of how to lower triglycerides, if you’re not averse to exploring different cuisines, there are actually many ethnic cuisines that are naturally triglycerides diet-friendly. The traditional Greek diet or Japanese diet or even the Hawaiian diet are all delicious, while being healthy and satisfying at the same time. This "restriction" can actually open gastronomic doors into other worlds since these traditional ways of eating are not dependent on fat or sugars in any way. Being on a diet doesn’t mean you have to diet on taste, too.
And the world is open online, too with many medical websites that not only provide practical advice and guidelines, but also give recipes and nutritional information. All in all, the triglycerides diet, when used properly, can help save your life in so many ways.
